Hundertwasser HQ reborn; launching exciting new campaign
Hundertwasser HQ finally moving to ground zero
On December 4th we’re re-opening your favourite pop-up shop in The Hub, right at the heart of the action in Whangarei’s Town Basin, and adjacent to the Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery building site.
We’re delighted to finally have a permanent home for our amazing HQ – our friendly volunteer crew will be here introducing people to the project and answering questions right up until your amazing art centre opens in 2020.
Be Part of the Art
At the same time we’re launching a shiny new campaign for supporters of the Hundertwasser Art Centre and of a vibrant and creative Whangarei. Be Part of the Art is an invitation to become part of the creation of the art centre itself by buying art, joining one of our donor recognition schemes or simply giving to the project.
All the money raised goes directly into the HAC – we’ve successfully raised the estimated build cost, but we still need funds to cover our pre-opening operational expenses.
Relaunch party + art auction – you’re invited!
On December 11 we’re celebrating the reopening of HQ and the launch of Be Part of the Art with a very special Treasures from the Campaign Trail art auction at our new base in The Hub.
The auction features art and objects from some of New Zealand’s best-known artists, including a stunning Stanley Palmer original oil. All art has been gifted to the HAC Project and all funds raised will be spent on the art centre.
To get you in the art auction mood, we’ll be running a silent auction down at Hundertwasser HQ from December 5th, where all other auction items will also be on view.

What’s up with construction?
The pre-construction process has been exciting, complex and exhausting, but we’re getting closer and closer to a final GO LIVE project-build date (still on track for early 2018). We’re right in the middle of final building consents and tendering now. The HAC Project is still entirely volunteers, but we’re now working with an amazing team of consultants, only awaiting the final announcement of our lead construction contractor. We look forward to introducing them all to you soon.
